Jackie Wollenberg has again done a fantastic job getting PTArts activites on paper with her annual newsletter. If you have ever been associated with PTA, you will receive a black and white copy in your mailbox with an envelop for sending in your membership dues. We hope you will join us this year in support of fiber art experiences.

Introductory lesson in crocheting flora and fauna with Trisha LavoieNovember 4/5th Introductory talk Monday, Nov 4th, 7pm at PTA classroomAll welcome at no charge. Donations gratefully accepted. Talk: Artist Trisha Lavoie will discuss her fiber art practice of recreating natural objects using crochet. Jean Near: 12/31/1914 – 7/14/2019
Jean was born in Ukiah and spent most of her life in Mendocino County. After graduating from Potter Valley High School she attended UC Berkeley where she earned a degree in English.Jean married John Ham, a Covelo native. She has two sons, John Thomas Ham, Jr. and William Charles Ham. She started her teaching career in Covelo, then went on to teach in Mendocino, Potter Valley, Philo and finally at Ukiah High School. She ended her tenure as the Dean of Girls there.She married Lowell Near in 1953 and they moved to Redwood Valley, where Jean achieved renown for the

SF Weaving Workshop April 4-5 2019
Loom and Shuttle Guild -- presentsWendy Garrity, Kushutara. April 4 & 5, 2019 Workshop. In this workshop, Wendy Garrity will introduce students to sapma and thrima, the supplementary weft techniques used to create kushutara, the sumptuous single-faced brocade used for women’s festival dresses in Bhutan. Participants will explore traditional Bhutanese motifs and begin to combine the 5 basic stitches to weave these motifs and to experiment with their own designs. Wendy learned from and wove alongside master weavers during a year living in Bhutan, and shares techniques not documented in the few books
