Beginning Weaving Crash Course #2 with Lolli Jacobsen

Class Description: BEGINNING WEAVING Crash Course #2 (back by popular demand) Lolli Jacobsen, with help from a number of PTArts Weavers Study and Support group members. 7 three hour days between Saturday June 14 and Friday June 20, 2025 1:30 to 4:30,  except Thurs. June 19, 10am to one

This crash course in learning to weave will cover the basics—planning, choosing yarns, warping, threading, beaming on, tying up, weaving and finishing—all in a matter of 7 days!  The focus will be on Twills.  Students can weave a sampler or an actual item like a scarf, towel, runner, placemats, or pillow front. Yarns necessary for the class can be purchased at PTArts for $5 a pound or bring your own for consideration.

Student will have access to the classroom any other time except Thursday afternoon.  Expect to spend some extra time weaving. Students can bring their own looms to PTArts for the class but looms must be removed by the end of June.  Otherwise looms will be provided but must be cleared by the first of July.

Day 1  Sat. the 14th  Intros (students, Lolli, the WSSGs, the class). Handouts;  Planning–choosing projects and materials, doing the math.
Day 2 Sunday the 15th: Measuring and making warps,
Day 3 Monday the 16th: Finish warps, Thread the looms
Day 4 Tuesday the 17th: Finish threading, Beam on (wind warps onto looms)
Day 5 Wednesday the 18th: Finish setting up, Begin weaving.
Day 6 Thursday the 19th: Weave!This session will have to happen from 10 to one in the morning as the Calligraphers have the classroom from 1:30 to 3:30.
Day 7 Fri. Dec. 13″  Finish Weaving, learn more about finishes. Celebrate.

BIO
Lolli Jacobsen learned to weave as an apprentice in Denmark.  She ran the Mendocino Art Center’s textile programs for most of 30 years, most notably MAC Textile Apprenticeship Program 1976 – 1991.  She also taught fabric printing and dyeing, weaving, textile history and other textile related classes through the College of the Redwoods and Mendocino College.  In 1993, she and a group of dreamers started Pacific Textile Arts to support, share and celebrate the fiber arts.

TUITION: $275/Members $295/Non-Members.

CLASS POLICIES: By signing up for this class you are agreeing to our cancellation policy. Please read before registering.

Your tuition, or balance if you are making payments, is due 15 days before the first day of class. At this point we have committed to paying the teacher whether you attend or not. Tuition is subject to the cancellation policies below and includes non-refundable deposit of 20% of the class fee up to a maximum of $50 to hold your space in the class.

If the minimum number of students is not met, or for any reason Pacific Textile Arts or the teacher must cancel the class, your tuition including deposits will be refunded or you may credit them toward a future class.

CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS & CREDIT TERMS:

Full refund terms: If you cancel more than 30 days before the start of class you may receive a full refund minus the non-refundable, non-exchangeable deposit, or you may request a credit minus the non-refundable deposit toward a future class within 1 year.

Credit toward a future class: If you cancel between 30 days and two weeks before the start of class you may request a credit toward a future class minus the non-refundable deposit.

If you cancel within two weeks of the start of class, including if you have an illness or emergency, tuitions are non-refundable unless the minimum number of students can be met without your presence OR you are able to find a replacement for your space. Only then may you request a credit toward a future class minus the non-refundable deposit. 

No Shows – No refunds or credits will be given.

These policies have been revised in an effort to ensure, as an all-volunteer organization, that we provide a full roster of classes, offer reasonable tuitions, and guarantee our teachers will receive full payment for their work. By signing up for this class, you are agreeing to the above policies.
