Class Description: In this workshop each student will learn how to block print with natural dyes while working on an organic cotton bandana. Students will utilize Sophie’s personal collection of antique printing blocks in their own creation. After the bandanas are printed, each student will learn to dye their creation with one of two natural dye options. This workshop is fit for all experience levels, whether you are completely new to natural dyeing or have previous experience. Topics covered will include scouring, mordanting, the use of tannins, block printing paint types, and the general basics of naturally dyeing cellulose fibers.
